LRC Instructional Programs

Instruction in using library resources related to a specific course, Internet, on-line databases, or a library tour can be provided by a librarian at the request of the course instructor. To request library instruction, contact the administrative librarian at your campus location. At the Raymond campus, the librarian on duty at Reference Services schedules classroom instruction.

Information in the Electronic Age (Edu 1121) is a one-hour credit course taught by librarians. It is an introduction to the major concepts of information literacy structured with an interdisciplinary approach. Students are taught to locate, select, and synthesize information for a variety of text, media, references, and technological sources. The course includes network basics, formulation searches, library tools, Internet, citing resources, and publishing web pages.

Courses for staff development credit may be requested through the Professional Development Institute. Librarians offer courses in use of the Magnolia databases, Internet and subject specific areas.
